Students practice critical thinking, observation and care planning in a risk-free environment. Originally developed to teach nursing students how to conduct windshield surveys, Sentinel City now includes 30 assignments and our Family Support and Home Assessment virtual clinical scenario.
Many clients map this simulation to their Community or Population Health Nursing courses, and while the hours and activities within the model are almost limitless, most clients use Sentinel City to earn about 30 hours for each of their learners.
Faculty members enjoy the variety that comes with the Assignment Catalog; this virtual city can cover everything from community assessments and infection prevention and control issues to natural disasters and population-focused interventions.

Hear From Other Nurse Educators

I look at Sentinel U’s simulations as a complement to the didactic classroom piece. We’re using some of these virtual clinical scenarios to enhance the overall learning by standardizing our clinical activities. That way students build both their clinical and critical thinking.
Dr. Connie Zak, Dean
Resurrection University College of Nursing

We get students set up, run through the first scenario in class, and they take it from there. After that, there’s not a lot of management on my end.
Valerie Wright, DNP, RN, CNE
Illinois State University Mennonite College of Nursing

The ability for the clinical faculty to customize assignments, the number of patients represented, and the fact that there is a virtual community setting convinced us to take the next step and get a demo.
Stevi Gire, MS, RN, CHSE

The simulation prompts them to support their choices with evidence-based practice research, to bring their own perspective to the situations and use critical thinking skills to make decisions in developing the patient’s plan of care.
