WATERBURY, Conn. (July 11, 2022) – Sentinel U®, a provider of comprehensive web-based simulation education solutions for nurses and healthcare professionals, is proud to announce its vice president of clinical learning, Laura Gonzalez, PhD, APRN, CNE, CHSE- A, ANEF, FAAN, has been installed as president of the International Nursing Association of Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL). Gonzalez will be the first Hispanic woman to lead the more than 1,800-member network as it advances the science of healthcare simulation.
This appointment is significant as it reflects the nursing profession’s ongoing efforts to promote equity and diversity, ushering in a new wave of caregivers who better represent the world’s population.
During her acceptance speech at the INACSL 22 convention, held June 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wis., Gonzalez reiterated the theme “Stronger. Together.” as she spoke about inclusivity within INACSL.\
“I am proud to be the first Latina president. Consistent with our core values, strength grows from accepting all voices and extending equitable opportunities to others,” said Gonzalez. “For the past 20 years, INACSL has been a place where nurse educators, clinicians and simulation enthusiasts could go to find an inclusive and safe environment.”
Gonzalez is an internationally recognized simulation expert who has dedicated her professional nursing and academic career to advancing the science of nursing education through the use of simulation and its impact on learner outcomes. In her role as president, she is committed to ensuring INACSL remains the organization of choice for simulationists globally on standards for best practice, research dissemination, outreach and simulation education as the organization continues to uphold its goal of improving healthcare and patient safety worldwide.
An active member of INACSL for many years, Gonzalez served as vice president of programs prior to her role as president. She is committed to bettering the organization and advancing the use of simulation in nursing education.
